During the ice break-up and freeze-up of rivers people feel trapped until the waters open up or in the case of Sandy’s poem Stranded - the river freezes up. Perhaps this also happens when you want to make a change in your life and feel powerless to do so until the situation changes. For example - if you ‘re suffering from an addiction, or, are in a troubled relationship, in a negative workplace, or are in a bad living space - this can result in a temporary loss of physical, mental and/or emotional control. Once this trauma ends, then, as in her poem:

Man sets out once again

To regain his self esteem,

He’s - The Master of the Land,

Left powerless, was just a dream
